LC1 Luxembourg (Centre) supports the association " Fondation Follereau LUxembourg", and more precisely their project
Worldwide 200 million of women are being circumcised each year, more than 3 million risk to loose their life during this cruel ritual. In the fight against female genital mutilation,Fondation Follereau is acting mostly in West Africa is, especially in Burkina Faso and Mali, where a large number of girls are circumcised. Depending on the region in Mali, up to 89% of women are affected. The Fondation, together with the Malian aid organization COFESFA and the AAB-FFL in Burkina Faso, is working to ensure that teachers, religious leaders and village leaders are educated about the dramatic physical and psychological consequences of circumcision. In addition, a microcredit program is set in place to allow the circumcisers to assure their income with other activities.
LC2 Aline de St.Hubert (South) supports 2 associations, Indesch Patenschaften (IP) and Association luxembourgeoise d'aide aux enfants cardiaques (Alaec)
IP consists in sponsoring special educational programs offered to disadvantaged children, and by this to give them hope for a bette future. Currently, nearly 1,200 children are sponsored through IP. The majority of these children complete their schooling and more than one hundred attend university.
Alaec has for main goal to accompany children with heart diseases and their parents. Alaec is helping them by creating contact between concerned persons; organizing regular meetings, exchanges and information sessions; raising public awareness of the problems of heart children; providing social and psychological support to children and their families; providing information at the administrative and financial level and supporting research on congenital heart disease.
LC3 Eisléck (North) supports the project "Maison du diabètes" from the ALD (Association Luxembourgeoise du Diabètes)
Maison du diabètes offers support and educational services for diabetic patients. This services can either be personalized and take place in individual sessions (explanation of treatment, glucose metering, injection techniques, insulin action profiles, dieting and more) or be more general information and take place in a group session
